I signed up for Anik Singal's Affiliate Classroom trial. Follow me through the 14 days and read my review. (Or just skip to the bottom for my final thoughts.)
DAY ONE
Have you heard of Anik Singal? Have you heard of Affiliate Classroom? I had heard of it, but never knew what it was. Now I know! I just got an email invitation to check it out.
My email told me that they offer step-by-step affiliate coaching for only $1! What the email didn't tell me is that it's only $1 for 14 days. Then there is a monthly charge.
I can spare $1 and 14 days. I joined!!
I'll see how much I can suck out of it in 14 days. If I make money, I'll keep going. I even set a reminder in Outlook to remind me to cancel in 13 days just in case.
As soon as I joined, I also signed up for their 2-tier affiliate program. So here's the link for you to go sign up too: Affiliate Classroom Home Page
I've already reviewed their "Complete Beginner's Guide" which tells you everything you need to know about what affiliate marketing is. (Of course, I offer some of that on my website too, but theirs is way more thorough than my beginner training. They have more experience than I do.)
DAY TWO
Yes, I know I just posted day one about yesterday, but I'm excited now and had to post again!
Right after the "Complete Beginner's Guide" is a section teaching you about the different sections of the their website. It starts with a personal message by Anik and then introduces each element of the Affiliate Classroom.
I have just gone through ALL of the introductions to acquaint myself with the website and I am amazed! So far, I have not seen a single sales pitch! Not one! What I did see (and hear) was a whole lot of reasons why I should have been a member of Affiliate Classroom ages ago!
The website stresses that they will help you implement affiliate marketing, not just throw information at you. They expect you to ask questions. They expect you to be involved. They claim to "hold your hand" with their step-by-step training.
Their website has a marketing library, tutorials, success interviews, case studies, a forum, a support email address, niche marketing tools, access to Anik's "upsell system", conference calls, and MORE! Most of the information is exclusive to Affiliate Classroom members.
It may take me 14 days just to figure out everything that is there!
Oh... And I emailed their support address to see what kind of response I get. I'll keep you posted.
Day Three
Well... Life with two kids sometimes prevents affiliate training. I do have website clients to tend to as well.... Back to Affiliate Classroom tomorrow...
Unfortunately, no response from my support request email yet.
DAY FOUR
Today, I read all about the Affiliate Upsell System. I must say... Anik Singal is one very clever guy! It's no wonder he's made a ton of money with this.
I obviously can't share any of that information here though for copyright reasons. Sorry!
DAY FIVE
Where's my email support? Their "contact us" page says they respond within 24 hours. I've sent them another email from another email address, just in case my email hit a spam blocker some where. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow afternoon, I'll have to call their listed phone number. (If I can find it again.)
I've started reading the step-by-step instructions. I'm finding some very valuable information and suggestions, but I'm also finding typos and broken links. I've found places in the tutorials that actually say "insert affiliate link here". Remember when I said I hadn't found any sales pitches?... Well... I have found some ads for free affiliate marketing guides... except that the link points to the Affiliate Classroom Affiliate Program instead of free marketing guides. But, the guides are copyright 2004. It's getting to be old stuff.
I'd contact them about the typos and broken links, but we already know where that leads. Their links for support and some of the contact links are generating errors at the moment.
DAY SIX
OK... big sigh of relief. The support email issue has been resolved. I called Affiliate Classroom this morning and my problem was taken care of right away. He received my follow-up email, but not the original one. He admitted that it was possible it was deleted with all the junk mail they get.
DAY SEVEN
I introduced myself at the Affiliate Classroom forum and asked a few questions. So far, I've gotten one not-so-welcoming response to my intro from another member and no answers to my questions. I guess I should give it more time to be fair.
On a more positive note, I've gotten a ton of good advice from the step-by-step guides. My mind has been running wild with ideas.
DAYS EIGHT THRU TWELVE
I had to stop posting daily so I could concentrate on getting as much information out of the classroom as I could. There is so much there and I want to start implementing it right away. I also found a really cool affiliate program which I signed up for (even though their information on the program is out of date).
I never really got a response to any of my forum questions. I did notice that the forum moderators haven't even been to the forum for over a month. I guess they got just as tired of the under-cover advertisers as I did.
DAY THIRTEEN
Nope. I didn't make it to day fourteen. While Affiliate Classroom has a plethora of very useful information and a variety of interesting affiliate programs, I believe I have gotten my fill. I have decided not to continue my membership. It wasn't what I expected and the personal support just wasn't there. I also can't stand typos and broken links. The content was fantastic, but sloppy. It appeared thrown together and should have gone through much more review (since 2004).
Now, that isn't to say that I wouldn't recommend Affiliate Classroom to my peers. Actually, despite the negatives that I found, I would still recommend it. I learned a lot through my intense studying of the trial membership. I read about some very critical concepts that no one else mentioned to me before and I have already started putting that information to very good use.
So, go ahead... join Affiliate Classroom. Cram in all you can in fourteen days like I did, or take your time and dive into all the wisdom Affiliate Classroom has to offer. After all, Anik Singal makes WAY more money that I do with affiliate marketing!!!
