AdSense is a sponsored ad program by Google which you can add into any page of any of your websites. The program uses criteria you provide and displays one or more advertisements on your web page.
Why would you want to do that? Because if it is done right, you'll make money!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Online advertisers pay Google to place ads for them.
Whenever one of your website visitors clicks on an AdSense advertisement as a result of your web page, Google pays you.
If you try to trick Google and click on your own ads in an attempt to increase your payout, they will catch on and ban you from their program!
How much you get paid depends on the keywords which make up your web page which displays the ads. This can range from 0.10 cents to $50 per click for the higher paying keywords such as travel and credit repair related.
There are currently three types of advertisements that you can display on your web page:
ADSENSE FOR CONTENT
The white box to the right is an example of an Ad Unit. The Google AdSense program scans your web page to determine what the content of your page is about and then uses that information to place a similarly themed ad. The list of links below this paragraph is an example of a Link Unit and works almost the same as the Ad Unit. The difference is that you don't get paid when someone clicks on it. You get paid when your visitor clicks on an ad on the resulting page.
